How to get there
Within Switzerland the location could not be more central. Engelberg is practically located in the middle of the Swiss flag and can be reached easily by public transport and car all year round.
By Airplane
We highly recommend that you book a flight to Zurich Airport, since from here you will have the best connections to Engelberg. The train to Engelberg leaves from Zurich Airport every hour. The journey takes about 2.5 hours and requires a change in Lucerne.
By Rail
There are regular Intercity or Eurocity train connections to Lucerne. From Lucerne, direct Zentralbahn trains run to Engelberg every hour.

By Car
By car, Engelberg is easy to reach from all directions. Autobahnen (motorways) run from Geneva via Bern or St. Gallen via Zurich to Lucerne (Gotthard). Exit the Autobahn A2 at Stans-Süd exit (16 kilometres after Lucerne) following signs to Engelberg. You will reach Engelberg after 20 kilometres on an excellent road.
Arrival at Zurich Airport

- Trains leave from Zurich Airport to Engelberg every hour. The journey takes about 2 hours and requires one change in Luzern (also spelled Lucerne in French) to the local train, “Luzern-Engelberg Express”, which will bring you to Engelberg. Tickets can be purchased at ticket machines or at the counter. A return fee ticket costs
- Trains to Engelberg during the main part of the day always leave Zurich Airport at 47 minutes past the hour and the journey requires one change of trains (in Luzern). Ideally you should try to catch the 16:47 train as the latest option in order to arrive by 19:00. Trains that leave early (before 08:47) or late (after 19:47) require 2 changes or more before arriving at Engelberg. The last train getting you to Engelberg the same day departs at 20:47.
